Answer the following questions in your presentation of the information.
1. What is your topic?
Mutton Birds and their migratory patterns
2. Why did you choose it?
I chose Mutton Birds because I know a lot about them because I do public programs about them at my work place and I also catch Mutton Birds for a feed and as a cultural practice.
How did you decide what to look for?
I decided to look for information on Mutton Birds because I knew a lot about them and I enjoy teaching about them.
What was your required outcome?
For my hypothetical client to gain knowledge on the Mutton Bird and for me to provide them with a variety of good resources to help with their research etc images, videos, social media.
3. What retrieval strategies did you apply?
I thought about the exact information I needed, then broke it down and did each part separately my search terms were quite broad, but because the Mutton Bird covers a wide range of the petrel family. I refined my search by using short-tailed shearwater and added Tasmania to that and was able to get more useful information.
4. Which of the following tools were relevant and why?
Print- Not Relevant
Non print – specify what social media tools you have used and why.
I used online resources such as YouTube for my videos, the images off the relevant websites a relevant blog attached to Etsy and a Facebook page with information on my topic.
5. Which information agencies or Internet sites did you use? Why?
I used the Parks and Wildlife factsheet page because it has relevant and very reliable information that I have already used on previous occasions. I also used YouTube because I knew for certain how to EMBED off there and because it has such a huge amount of content that I believed I could find what I was after.
6. How did you analyse / sort the information?
I analysed the information by disregarding anything I felt didn’t help or benefit my client and sorted it into one topic “Life Cycle” in that topic I then broke it up into feeding habits and migration. With an emphasis of how a lot of the birds pass away on migration.
7. Did you need to reassess or follow up?
Yes from time to time I had to go back through and tweak and change my formatting of my blog, I also had to reassess the way I did my citations and then change them to how I felt they were best formatted.
8. How have you recorded and managed your information?
I recorded and managed all my information by creating a Word document titled Assessment Task 2 Referencing that way all my information was offline and in an easy to use and easy to alter format.
